Introducing Blooma 3.0
Mar 10, 2025 · Tree Care
By Kaustubh Deo, President of Blooma Tree Experts

Blooma Tree Experts has been serving the Greater Seattle area for 18+ years. As a locally owned & operated small business, we’ve had to evolve throughout that time period.

When we’re in the day-to-day of tree service, the big moments can be hard to recognize. But with the benefit of hindsight, I can more neatly see key eras for the business:

  • Blooma 1.0 (~2005 to 2021) was the sturdy foundation laid by the original founder of the business. This established a client base and brand name.
  • Blooma 2.0 (2022 to 2024) was an ownership transition period. This period involved building out a best-in-class team (now with eight ISA-Certified Arborists!), implementing best practices around safety & quality, launching new systems & processes to support growth, and expanding our service offerings.

2025 feels like another transitional moment – the start of Blooma 3.0. I’ve now owned the business for three years, and it finally feels like “my” business. I feel ready and excited to take responsibility for defining the company Mission and articulating a Vision for Blooma’s future.

I introduced our new Mission & Vision to the full team a couple weeks ago at a staff offsite at Snoqualmie Pass. I was so impressed & proud to see how quickly our talented team understood them and took them to heart.

And now, I’m proud to share it out with our community.

Mission: To be a source of safety, inspiration, and peace — for each other and for our community.

Our mission is why we exist as a company.

Safety: Safety for our crews as they work in hazardous conditions. Safety in the workplace from harassment. Safety for our clients in how we manage their trees.

Inspiration: Providing arborists a place where they can practice & grow their passion. Providing clients with elegant landscapes, and helping them re-envision their trees as an opportunity for beauty rather than a cost to be managed.

Peace: Being a workplace that employees feel at ease in. Being an arborist service that provides peace of mind to our clients, because they know we are trustworthy & well-trained.

Each Other: Blooma is nothing without its people. The company is just a collection of talented folks coming together and caring about each other and their work. It starts & ends with our team.

Our Community: Our team comes together to serve the community. This includes our clients. It includes our clients’ neighbors. It includes our schoolchildren & local municipal leaders. It includes our vendors & partners. It includes the broader arborist community in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

Vision: We are building an enduring tree care business by empowering our team to be best-in-class.

This is what we will we become to fulfill our mission.

Enduring: We chose this word intentionally. We did not select “biggest” or “fastest-growing” or any other descriptor. To us, “enduring” means building in a sustainable fashion. It requires making long-term decisions, which may require short-term sacrifice. It reminds us that if we do not lay a strong foundation, anything we build above it will be fragile.

Empowering: We are building a business that allows our team to problem-solve, make decisions, and take control. We expect that of our team. We seek to hire arborists & staff members that want to take accountability for their actions and their overall role in the team. From a management/ownership perspective, this requires trust and relinquishing control. It means that everything in our business won’t be done “my” way. Instead, my job is to hire a talented team and point them in a direction. And that team can figure out how to get there.

Best-In-Class: This phrase can mean many things — to some, it’s a call to competition. It implies that we strive to better than others in our industry. Sure, they may be a tinge of that (I can’t help but be a competitive spirit…). But to me, the core meaning derives from a constant drive for self-betterment. We define our own standards, we strive to meet them, and then work to exceed them. We decide what it means to deliver high-quality tree care, excellent customer service, and incredible employee experience. We don’t look to our left or right to define that – we look inward.

A core element of establishing a Mission and Vision is sharing it out. If you’re reading this, you’re a member of our community in some form or fashion. We ask that you hold us accountable to this Mission and Vision.

If you are compelled by this and want to work with us, either as a partner, client, or future team member, by all means reach out. You can reach us through our contact form or via email at [email protected].

The entire Blooma team & I could not be more excited for Blooma 3.0. We thank you for being on this journey with us.

I’ll leave you with this following picture from our staff offsite — eight vehicles, carefully squeezed into one Airbnb driveway. If this isn’t the perfect representation of how effectively our team can work together to fulfill our mission, I don’t know what is.
