We pride ourselves on our education, as we stay abreast of current research and technology in the field of arboriculture. (Why hire an arborist?) We are also very experienced, with a combination of seasoned veterans and fresh new perspectives on each Blooma crew. We boast a total of 4 ISA Certified Arborists, so you always know your trees are in good hands.

THE BLOOMA CREW

Martin Macauley

CEO, ISA Certified Arborist #PN-5768-A (click to verify) ISA Certified Tree Risk Assessor B.S., Mechanical Engineering (UW '85) Master's, Business Administration (Seattle U '90)

Martin comes from a long line of tree experts. With a grandfather who was an Oregon logger in the 1930s and 40s, and a father who founded a successful logging company in the 1960s and 70s, Martin grew up with a love of trees and a keen knowledge of balancing customer needs with natural aesthetics. After earning a mechanical engineering degree (UW '85) and an MBA (Seattle U '90), Martin found life as a Boeing engineer too stuffy (he calls it the "cubicle lifestyle"). He returned to the outdoors as a tree man, soon earning his arborist certificate from the International Society of Arboriculture and founding Blooma Tree Experts LLC. He married Judy in 2007, and soon afterward, enticed her to join Blooma.

Josiah Macauley

Co-owner, ISA Certified Arborist #PN-7246-A ISA Certified Tree Risk Assessor B.A., Business (UW 2010)

Josiah learned the ropes from his father throughout high school and college, working on the Blooma crew every summer and holiday break. After earning his business degree at the University of Washington, Josiah worked several places, ending up as an arborist for the city of Seattle Department of Transportation. In 2016, he fulfilled his father's goal and joined the family firm as a partner. Josiah is married to his lovely wife, Lauryn.

Nathan Rohrbach

ISA Certified Arborist #PN-8909A Professional Climber

Blooma is thrilled to announce the addition of Nate Rohrbach to the Blooma crew. Nate is an ISA Certified Arborist with years of knowledge about trees and the proper ways to care for them. He also brings years of climbing experience and skill.

Nathan Rohrbach

Arborist Drew Cheney worked full-time for Blooma for several years before going off and doing his own thing for awhile. Now he is back part-time, bringing us his years of expertise and enthusiasm. Like most climbers, Drew loves adventure and adrenaline-causing activities, especially white water rafting in the summer and downhill skiing in the winter. He has recently taken up dirt bike riding, too, and can often be found on the trails with Ben.

Zane May

Climbing Arborist

Zane May is an experienced climber, professional pruner, and exemplary hedger. He has completed three courses in tree pruning taught by Plant Amnesty and the UW Center for Horticulture, and he is studying for the ISA Arborist exam. In his off time, he often goes dirt bike riding and snowboarding.

Bill Andrews

Groundsman

Bill Andrews is our official Safety Guru, acting like a father to younger set, making sure they are safe. He also can drag brush better than anyone else, working constantly, like the Energizer Bunny. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife and grown daughters.

Brianna Poe

Office Assistant

Brianna joined the Blooma office crew early in 2019, and we love her cheerful outlook and helpful attitude. When she isn't answering the phone, scheduling bids, or taking excellent care of our customers, Brianna tends to her son, and feeds her hobbies of photography, makeup and hiking.

Judy Macauley

Office Manager

Judy Macauley is wife to co-owner Martin and stepmom to co-owner Josiah. She has helped Blooma since its inception in 2005, joining the team full-time in 2014. When she isn't talking to customers, scheduling bids, or straightening out the books, Judy enjoys creating fused glass art and spending time with her three beautiful grandchildren.

Cameron "Muk" de Guzman

Groundsman

Muk is a skilled groundsman, apprentice climber, and expert at stump grinding. He enjoys a deep knowledge and understanding of Pacific Northwest plants and trees, due to his previous work in environmental restoration. With a BA degree from Western Washington University in "Sea Change: Community Connection to Conservation," Muk has a deep passion for our world's oceans, which he exhibited in the Peace Corps, doing ocean restoration in the Philippines.

Anthony Pierce

Groundsman

Anthony is a great groundsman, providing much appreciated muscle to the crew. He is a former college football and lacrosse player, avid hiker and weighlifter, current Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, and nomadic van-life wanderlust superstar.

Jordyn Reed

Groundsman

Jordyn is a groundsman with a background in tree work, mechanics, construction, and in-home care. This makes him a valuable addition to the team.
Blooma has always been a family business. Martin employed his two sons, Josiah and Michael, throughout their high school and college years when they were available. Josiah is now his business partner; Michael graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering from UW Seattle and is an engineer at a firm in Lynnwood, WA. The legacy is continuing as we teach a third generation the ropes: Jin Eyon, Martin's grandson, is joining the Blooma crew during the summer of 2018, getting his first taste of the world of urban forestry Learn more about our Seattle tree and arborist services »
